Mixed Media Artist and Crafter
I have been making and creating from a young age and cannot remember a time that I was not making, painting, cutting or collaging! At the age of 16, I exhibited at my first craft market selling mixed media jewellery. Many years of monthly and seasonal markets followed with products including mosaics, metal stamping and altered art. From 2009 I was co-organizer for 12 years of a seasonal Art and Craft market in Kimberley South Africa.
In 2021 I bid farewell to the Art and Craft Market industry when we relocated to Perth Australia. I took a sabbatical for about a year to settle my family into our new environment and in 2023 I am back creating and teaching.
From in-person to online educator
In 2017 I started teaching formal in-person workshops teaching metal stamping and in 2018 I had my first tutorial published in a Magazine. My work and tutorials have been featured in 3 South African art and craft magazines. The publications include: Stiches and Craft (metal stamping), South African Craft and Home (mixed media) and Creative Hobbies (altered art). In 2019 I joined the creative team at Short Cuts Crafts as Mixed Media Educator.
From 2020 I had to start teaching online and I managed an online Art Club for two years. That was the start of my online journey. I now teach monthly virtual and in-person workshops and have a YouTube channel where I share free tutorials. My jewellery and 3D mixed media art are created in my small home studio based in Perth, Australia.
Multi Passionate creative
As a result of my endless curiosity, I love to explore new products and techniques which has led to a myriad of experiments on many art forms and helped me gain a lot of knowledge on a wide variety of art mediums, substrates and techniques. And yet there are so many more to explore!
I have a vintage soul and I enjoy working with leather, lace, vintage books, aged brass and copper. Assemblage, altered art and mixed media jewellery made form new and re-used pieces are what I love to create. The ocean and the forest are my biggest inspiration and I love creating pieces that include ocean animals, mushrooms, foliage, flowers and bugs. I love an old world forgotten treasure look and will age natural metal or create a faux rust or patina in my art.
Make – Create – Inspire
I absolutely love sharing my knowledge and get so excited when I can teach people the joy of creating. I really do believe that we are all created to create and that each person has an innate need to make and create. I teach art related creative activities that are easy to learn and that use readily available products, stick around there is so much that I can show you!
