“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” - Pablo Picasso

Nurturing creativity as a family
~Art with Kids ~

Art is one of the best ways for children to explore and learn with all their senses. It aids in self-expression and emotional regulation. Develops fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and builds confidence.

That said nurturing creativity starts with YOU! Life is busy and we have endless to-do lists and very limited time for ourselves especially when it comes to taking care of our mental health. My aim here is also to help you understand the importance of nurturing YOUR creativity alongside that of your child.

That said most parents are resistant to art activities due to the

mess that usually ensues.

The secret to joyful art session without the clean-up stress is two-fold:

  • Strategic limitations: pre-planning your art invitations allow you to control the level of mess without limiting their creative exploration
  • Making art together: Joining in the fun allows for family bonding and allows you to lead by example and set the pace for the activity

I have created a course where I share my

sanity saving tips for making art with kids. You will learn how to nurture your creativity and share that creative spark with your kids.

The reason we want to expose kids to art and creative activities is not turn them all into artists, most will have interests in other areas, the goal is to encourage originality, free thinking, and problem-solving skills instead of imitation. Art and creative activities help children develop their personalities and tastes, and helps them understand the complicated world around them. It also aids in the development of 'divergent thinking' - the ability to brainstorm many possible solutions to a single problem.

In my Art with Kids online course you will learn:

  • The importance of nurturing creativity
  • How to prep to avoid unnecessary mess
  • Making space for art even when you don’t have space
  • Best art supplies to suit all budgets
  • The essence of process art and why it is so beneficial and enjoyable

*The course content is also endorsed by an Occupational Therapist and at the end of the course you will receive a special article where the OT high-lights the developmental advantages of the course content.

The course includes written essays, video content and PDFs:

  • Art invitation cards - open ended art invitations that you can use and re-use over and over (takes the guess work out of what activities to set up, how to set it up and which supplies are needed)
  • Colour wheel wall chart for colour theory,
  • Paint mixing wall chart,
  • Parent and kids prep cards (to help your sessions run smoothly) and
  • Printable inspirational quotes for your wall.
